The creamiest vegan ice cream in the Bay Area! I've tried almost all their regular flavors (all delicious, but Caramel Almond Crunch and Golden Spice are special)! Recently tried their ice cream sandwiches and they're so good! Love that everything is GF. Service was attentive and friendly at this location. Small store, so get in when there isn't a crowd and definitely take pints and sandwiches home, but warning that you will eat them all ;).
My friends and I came here right before closing but the lady working was so sweet and still let us sample a few flavors. It was so nice to finally have options, and everything was so delicious and creamy. I ended up getting the banana nut and mocha chip, and it was so perfect. The area is also so calm and peaceful, it was a great late night ice cream experience.
The helper was fabulous answering questions. Love organic, dairy free, gluten free, preservative and dye free- super healthy and yet DELICIOUS Mr. Dewies ice cream!! Cute family vibes and can take some home. Also, free samples, YUM!
I love the customer service at this location. Stopped in to try the new whipped "cream". It is thick cream, like a true homemade whip and has the slightest hint of sweetness. I love how basic it is. I topped it with a one of the cookies to make a little crunchy cookie whipped sundae
I love this ice cream! I'm lactose intolerant so all the ice cream I eat always taste water downed or icey. This ice cream is creamy and delicious! I love the mint chocolate chip!
This place is simply the best. You wouldn't know it's not made with milk. We've been going here for years and love it.
Tried fresh strawberry and their seasonal Cashew and Jelly/PBJ. Please get the cashew jelly/PBJ. ITS AMAZING!!! They nailed the flavors down on this one
While waiting for our spot for dinner, we stopped by Mr Dewie's on Piedmont. I was sure what to expect since the ice cream is cashew-based. However, I was pleasantly surprised by how delicious all the flavors I tried were (I sampled quite a few LOL). If it weren't for the slight lack in creaminess, I wouldn't have realized the ice cream was cashew based! After a difficult time choosing, my partner and I got a double of Cashew & Jelly and Fresh Strawberry. I am not the biggest fan of peanut butter flavored things, but the Cashew & Jelly only had a slight nutty flavor. With the jelly, it made such a yummy combo! Like a light pb&j. My partner stated he hopes they keep cashew & jelly and I'd have to agree on that! The fresh strawberry is true to its name. It tastes very fresh and was yummy! Especially mixed with the cashew & jelly flavor, both flavors meshed well! The people behind the counter who helped us out were so nice! They were so patient with us when we kept asking for samples and were debating on flavors.
My friends and I came here on a whim and I was very happy we tried this place out. I'm lactose intolerant and often find that non dairy ice cream flavors are often limited. I do like the creaminess of ice cream and I am happy to say that if I hadn't known this place was non dairy I wouldn't have been able to tell. The staff were very nice and were patient with my friends. I sampled a couple flavors. You are able to sample three flavors inside which is nice. I tried the banana walnut and the flavor was great. I did decide to go with a scoop of the Tropical Trio in a cone. The tropical trio was very delicious I wish I got more. There are tables and benches outside after you order. It was very nice to sit out on a nice warm day with a scoop of non dairy ice cream.
Non-dairy, cashew based ice cream spot in the Piedmont/Oakland area! Ice cream spot that is vegan and gluten free but unfortunate for folks that are allergic to nuts and especially cashews. We had dinner nearby and wanted something for dessert. There's no limits to samples and we all tried a few - matcha, caramel almond crunch, lemon crème, chocolate orange chip, mocha chip, cold brew coffee, to name a few. I asked what the most popular flavor was and the worker said it was the caramel almond crunch and indeed that was my winner! It had the right amount of sweetness and the nice almond crunch to add. I asked what the smallest size was because I was so full from dinner still so I got a kid scoop with the most popular sugar cone. The kids got strawberry and chocolate cookie crumble, they did notice the difference in nondairy but were still happy. My other friends got single scoops that you can split and got coffee and mocha and other chocolate flavors. They have a cute little store front and inside and also sell pints to go, bon bons, and other treats! There's street parking all around so it can be hard when it's busy.
